Great Fire of London!

Last Friday afternoon, Dolphins Class took part in a special Forest School session to see their learning on the Great Fire of London come to life. The Forest School instructor was very impressed with their knowledge of dates, causes and ways Londoners tried to put out the fire. The children learnt about the three elements of fire - heat, oxygen and fuel - and how taking one of these away would extinguish a fire. They took part in a bucket chain challenge to feel first hand what it was like for the Londoners to draw water from the River Thames and pass it along a chain to put the fire out. Finally, the children saw a live demonstration of how easily the fire spread due to the houses being close together and made of wood and straw.
